Project Description

Epoxy Floor Coating

PPC (Philton Polythene converters) based in Canvey Island, Essex were looking for a suitable floor coating solution to refurbish their 300m2 production factory floor area. The existing concrete floor had two different covering systems already installed which had to be fully removed before LAM could apply any new floor coating product. After careful consideration the client chose to have a high build epoxy paint system installed following specialist diamond floor grinding preparation. Prior to application of the new paint system several moisture sleeves were installed and readings were taken to establish the moisture levels within the slab. The moisture tests highlighted that there was an unacceptably high moisture content which would ultimately affect the bond strength between the paint and the substrate. To overcome this problem LAM specified a liquid damp proof membrane prior to application of the high build epoxy coating. This meant that the paint could achieve 100% bond strength. The works were carried out over a 7 day window during a shutdown period where all of the production tables and machinery could be removed to expose all of the floor area.
