Problem

PPC (Philton Polythene Converters), based in Canvey Island, Essex, required a durable and reliable floor coating solution to refurbish their 300m² production factory floor, which had deteriorated due to previously installed incompatible systems. The existing concrete surface featured two separate coating types that needed full removal before any new system could be applied

Solution

After evaluating several options, LAM recommended a high build epoxy paint system, preceded by specialist diamond grinding to ensure optimal surface preparation.

Installation

Moisture sleeves were installed and readings taken, revealing excessive moisture levels within the slab that posed a risk to long-term adhesion. To mitigate this, LAM specified the use of a liquid damp proof membrane, allowing the epoxy coating to achieve full bond strength with the substrate.

Completion

The installation was completed over a 7-day shutdown period, during which all production tables and machinery were removed to expose the entire floor area.

Feedback

PPC were highly satisfied with the outcome, noting the professionalism of the team and the seamless execution of works within the tight timeframe.
